A couple of months ago, some friends of ours started to give out food packets to some of the poor families in our city once a month. Typically, these packets are distributed only during Ramazan, but our friends decided that this would be a great opportunity to help meet needs every month.
This month, we helped out and it was a great experience. Together, we bought the food for the 20 packets and then put them together in order to give away the next day downtown. The packets included staples here like rice, beans, lentils, macaroni, tea, sugar and oil. Although we weren't really able to talk to anyone because of our limited language, it was encouraging and humbling to be able to serve them.
